You may
wonder how and if you should help the blind. Blind people are
like any other people - sometimes they like help and sometimes
they like to do it themselves.
The best thing is to
calmly and politely ask a blind person if they would like
help. It is important to listen as, for example, they tell you
how to help them cross the road. There are certain ways of
doing things that make it easier for a person who is blind
which usually a blind person will tell you.
Still
another thing is to put items back exactly where the blind
person has put them. Blind people depend on organization and
knowing where things are.
Finally, the best way you
can help a blind person is to remember that he/she is a person
just like you with thoughts and feelings. It is important to
be sure a blind person is included in the fun as you would
want to be.
-Support, advice, and personal assistance
for blind people and their families. -Advocacy for parents
of blind children and blind adults. -Working for state and
national legislation to improve the lives of blind
people. -Public education about blindness. -Helpful
literature, aids, and appliances for blind people.
Your
gifts will support these programs and more. Moustafa
Saad Charity Foundation encourages you to include the
blind in your plans for current giving and for the legacy you
will leave behind you. Many believe that such giving can be
done only by the very rich. Such gifts certainly help and are
appreciated, but much of the good work of our Foundation is
supported by those with modest assets. No matter what your
financial status, one purpose of this guide is to remind you
of Moustafa Saad Charity Foundation’s good work and to invite
you to remember us in your giving plans. We can outline the
benefits of a variety of gift-giving options that will enable
you to help us make a better life for the blind. We hope you
will join us in helping blind people help
themselves.
